Hollywood star Nicole Kidman recently spoke about the challenging period she experienced in 2025 after filing for divorce from country music star Keith Urban following their 19-year marriage.
Kidman Reflects on a Difficult Year
In a cover story with Variety, the Oscar-winning actress said the personal situation led her to step back from the public eye.
“Last year, I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” said Kidman, whose series Scarpetta is scheduled to release on Wednesday on Prime Video.
Divorce documents were filed in late September last year. Kidman and Urban share two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 15.
Family remains Nicole Kidman’s priority.
Kidman explained that her focus remains on maintaining a strong family bond as they move forward.
“I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect,” she said.

“I’m staying in a place of ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
A Long Hollywood Relationship
Kidman and Urban married in June 2006 after first meeting at the G’Day USA gala in Los Angeles, an event that promotes Australia. Over the years, they became one of Hollywood’s most recognized couples, often supporting each other at film premieres, concerts, and award shows.
During the early months of their marriage, Kidman staged an intervention for Urban as he faced struggles with addiction. Urban later entered rehabilitation and has credited Kidman for playing a key role in his recovery and sobriety.

When Kidman received the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, Urban spoke during his tribute about the positive impact she had on his life when they first met.
