In Memory of a Killer, Dempsey plays Angelo Flannery, a cold-blooded hitman who has spent years expertly compartmentalizing his existence. In New York City, he’s a ruthless assassin working for his longtime associate Dutch (Michael Imperioli), a renowned chef whose restaurant secretly serves as a front for criminal operations.
Miles away in the quiet town of Cooperstown, Angelo presents himself as a normal copier salesman and devoted father. For years, the wall between these two worlds has held—until it starts to crumble.
Angelo’s carefully controlled life begins to unravel when he develops early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. As his memory starts to fail, the skills that once made him dangerous now work against him. According to the series synopsis, Angelo has always known how his line of work ends—but Alzheimer’s is an enemy he can’t escape or outfight.
The show explores identity, memory, and consequence, asking what happens when a man trained to erase others slowly begins to lose himself.
Memory of a Killer is based on De Zaak Alzheimer (The Alzheimer Case), a novel by Belgian author Jef Geeraerts. The story has been adapted multiple times, including a 2003 Belgian film and the 2022 American movie Memory, starring Liam Neeson. This new series expands the story into a longer, more layered television format.
When Does Memory of a Killer Premiere?
Memory of a Killer premieres on FOX on Sunday, January 25, airing at 10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT, immediately following the NFC Championship Game.
After the premiere, the series moves to its regular weekly time slot on Mondays at 9 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. CT.
