James Ransone, who gained worldwide recognition through The Wire and Generation Kill, was best known for his memorable role as Chester “Ziggy” Sobotka in HBO’s iconic crime drama The Wire.
In the second season of the series, he portrayed a dock worker caught in the complexities of the criminal underworld. The depth and honesty of his performance earned praise from both critics and audiences. He further showcased his range by playing Corporal Josh Ray Person in the miniseries Generation Kill.
James Ransone was also widely recognized for his work in horror films.
James Ransone’s journey in horror films and on the big screen: In recent years, James Ransone appeared as Eddie Kaspbrak in the blockbuster horror film It: Chapter Two.
In the film, he worked alongside major stars such as Bill Hader and Jessica Chastain and made a strong impression despite limited screen time. His career began with the 2002 film Ken Park, which marked his first major break in Hollywood.

A personal life marked by struggles and mental health challenges: Baltimore-born James Ransone faced a difficult life. In 2021, he openly revealed that he had been sexually abused as a child.
