His wife, Kelly Anastos, confirmed that he died from pneumonia at a hospital in Mount Kisco, New York.
According to WABC-TV, Anastos started his career at the station as a reporter in 1978. Over the years, he also worked at several major New York stations, including WCBS, WWOR, and WNYW.
During his long career in broadcasting, Anastos received numerous honors, including 30 Emmy Awards, the Emmy Lifetime Achievement Award, and an Edward R. Murrow Award. His distinctive delivery style became widely recognized and was often imitated by other television anchors.
