Cherry Seaborn’s Cancer Diagnosis: Singer Ed Sheeran recently spoke about the difficult period when his wife, Cherry Seaborn, was diagnosed with cancer.
Ed Sheeran says that was the hardest time in my life.
During an appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast hosted by Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky, and Kristin Batalucco, Sheeran described the moment he learned about his wife’s diagnosis as one of the hardest experiences he has faced.
“[The] day that Cherry rang me up and said she had cancer, that was probably the worst day,” Sheeran said during the conversation.
Sheeran explained that the period was especially difficult because several other tragic events happened at the same time. He recalled that music entrepreneur Jamal Edwards died that week, and they were also dealing with a court case.
“That was probably the worst week, ’cause Jamal died that week as well, and then we went straight into a court case,” Sheeran said. “Oh, and then Shane died.”
Cricket legend Shane Warne also died during that time.
Sheeran shared that Seaborn had surgery to remove the tumor. At the time, she was pregnant, which made the situation even more challenging.
“She had the operation,” Sheeran said. “She was pregnant at the time. That was why it was difficult.”
He explained that the surgery took place after she gave birth to their second child.
“She had the operation to remove the tumor after she’d given birth to our second child and thankfully touch wood totally fine. But it was f—in’ scary.”
When podcast host Kristin Batalucco asked how Seaborn is doing now, Sheeran said she is currently doing well. “She’s fine,” he said.
