Dolly Parton Health Update: Country music legend Dolly Parton has spoken about her health and how she has been coping following the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean.
Dolly Parton Addresses Health Concerns
During a keynote speech on opening day of the season at her theme park, Dollywood, on Friday, March 13, the country music legend shared an update with fans. This year marks the 41st season since the Tennessee theme park first opened.
Parton, 80, said she has been focusing on her health while taking time away from touring.
“I’ve not been touring, as you know,” Parton said, according to footage of the speech shared by WVLT 8. “I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them.”
Dolly Parton Health Update (Grieving the Loss of Carl Dean)
The singer explained that the past year had been emotionally difficult following the loss of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean. The couple had been married for 58 years before Dean died on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82.
“I just kind of got worn down and worn out, grieving over Carl and a lot of other little things going on,” Parton said. “I just got myself kind of where I needed to build myself back up spiritually, emotionally, and physically. But all is good. It didn’t slow me down.”

Dolly Parton Says She Is Not Dating
While speaking at the event, Parton also joked with the audience about Dollywood Company President Eugene Naughton, who was on stage with her.
After laughing that fans should not mistake him for her “new husband,” Parton clarified that she is not dating anyone following Dean’s death.
