In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Alexa Ray Joel said her father is taking his recovery seriously and working hard to improve his health.
“He’s doing physical therapy regularly, and he’s doing great,” she said. “He’s lost weight as he’s on his diet. I’m so proud of him. He’s such a trooper, so resilient and committed to being healthy and proactive. He’s a fighter. He’s always been a fighter and talks in his documentary about how life’s like a fight.”
Alexa Ray Joel is Billy Joel’s only child with his former wife, model Christie Brinkley.

Billy Joel Paused Tour After Diagnosis with a Brain Disorder.
The iconic musician recently canceled all upcoming tour dates after revealing that he had been diagnosed with normal pressure hydrocephalus.
The condition occurs when cerebrospinal fluid accumulates inside the skull, increasing pressure on the brain. According to Joel, performing had worsened the symptoms, leading to problems with balance, vision, and hearing.
In a statement released at the time, Joel said he was focusing on treatment.
“Under his doctor’s instructions, Billy is undergoing specific physical therapy and has been advised to refrain from performing during this recovery period,” the statement read.
The singer also expressed gratitude for the care he is receiving and for the continued support from fans.
While Joel focuses on his health, several musicians are set to honor his legacy at a tribute event titled The Music of Billy Joel at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
Artists including Wyclef Jean, Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas, Train’s Pat Monahan, and Rufus Wainwright will perform some of Joel’s well-known songs.
Over the years, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has created many popular hits, including “Tell Her About It,” “Vienna,” and “Scenes From an Italian Restaurant.”
