Netflix announced Friday it won the bidding war over Warner Bros. studios and HBO Max in an $82.7 billion transaction, outpacing offers from Comcast and Paramount.
Big Series, Films now go under the Netflix banner!
The deal brings Game of Thrones, DC Comics, Harry Potter films, and HBO’s full library under Netflix control, following HBO Max’s short-lived rebrand from ‘Max’ this July after the 2022 Warner-Discovery merger.
Staff will remain the Same for now!
CEO David Zaslav told staff that HBO Max will remain for now, although talks are swirling around future changes, such as price hikes or a merged identity.
Warner Bros. Discovery stock rose on the news, as subscribers eye what happens to their content and logins.
