Motörhead guitarist Phil Campbell died: Phil Campbell, the longtime guitarist for the Lemmy Kilmister-led metal band Motörhead, has died at the age of 64.
Phil Campbell’s Family Confirms His Death
The news of Campbell’s death was shared Saturday through the social media accounts of his band, Phil Campbell and the Bastard Sons. In the statement, his family said he passed away peacefully following a serious medical procedure.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who passed away peacefully last night following a long and courageous battle in intensive care after a complex major operation,” the statement read.
The message also described Campbell as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

“Phil was a devoted husband, a wonderful father, and a proud and loving grandfather, known affectionately as ‘Bampi’. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be missed immensely. His legacy, music and the memories he created with so many will live on forever.”
Phil Campbell’s Career With Motörhead
Campbell was born in Wales and began his career in the late 1970s when he formed the British heavy metal band Persian Risk. He spent five years with the group before being recruited by Lemmy Kilmister to join Motörhead in 1984, following the departure of guitarist Brian Robertson.
