Alex Duong, the comedian and actor known for his appearances on Blue Bloods, has died at the age of 42.

A close friend of Duong’s family, Hilarie Steele, confirmed his passing in an update shared on a GoFundMe page created in his honor.

Duong had been battling alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of tissue cancer, since his diagnosis in 2025.
On Friday, Steele shared that Duong had been hospitalized after going into septic shock. The following morning, she confirmed that he died “surrounded by love and dear friends.”
“He was comfortable and thankfully out of pain,” the statement said. “[His wife and daughter] Christina and Everest were able to see him last night, and he was alert enough to say goodbye to his little girl, whom he has treasured every moment since the day she was born. We are devastated, but so grateful for the support, prayers, and generosity you have all shown during this unimaginable time.”

Born in Dallas, Texas, to Vietnamese and Chinese parents, Duong was the youngest of six children. He later moved to Los Angeles to pursue an entertainment career and became a regular presence in the city’s comedy scene, performing stand-up and working as a door guy at the Comedy Store on the Sunset Strip.
Alongside his stand-up work, Duong appeared in several television shows, including Everybody Hates Chris, Dexter, Death Valley, The Young and the Restless, Pretty Little Liars, and Filth City.
He also appeared in three episodes of the 2014 comedy series Cost of Living as Genghis Khan and had a recurring role as Sonny Le in Blue Bloods, where he shared scenes with Donnie Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan.
Duong also took part in comedy specials and competitions, including Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle and The OnlyFans Roast of Whitney Cummings, further establishing his presence in the comedy world.
