Zendaya Rewears Iconic 2015 Oscars Dress: Actress Zendaya revisited one of her most talked-about fashion moments by wearing her 2015 Oscars gown again at ‘The Drama ‘Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday night.
Zendaya Brings Back Vivienne Westwood Gown
The actress, 29, stepped onto the red carpet in the same Vivienne Westwood Bridal dress she wore when she was 18 years old. The ivory silk gown featured a corseted bodice and a tulle sash draped over her shoulders and down her back.

“I remembered the saying: ‘Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.’ So, this is my something old. I thought I’d bring it back and give it new life,” Zendaya told Variety at the event.

The gown holds a deeper meaning beyond fashion. When Zendaya first wore it in 2015, she paired it with dreadlocks, which led to controversial comments from then-Fashion Police co-host Giuliana Rancic.

Zendaya responded at the time by calling the remarks “outrageously offensive.” She later expressed hope that the show would “learn and grow” from the backlash, which also contributed to the departures of Kelly Osbourne and Kathy Griffin.
In 2021, the Euphoria star reflected on how the moment influenced her perspective on representation.
“That’s how change happens,” she told W magazine. “And it made me think, how could I always have a lasting impact on what people saw and associated with people of color?”

Zendaya’s Look’s Legacy Continues
The impact of the look continued over the years, with Mattel creating a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll modeled after Zendaya wearing the gown and hairstyle.
Speaking again about the moment, Zendaya said, “It was such an important moment for myself, my community, for my loved ones, and it felt right. And it also happens to be a wedding dress, so that works.
