‘I was a drug addict, a sex addict but not a rapist’, Comedian Russell Brand responded on sexual assault

The charge follows an 18-month investigation following complaints of sexual harassment by four women. London Metropolitan Police said one case of rape, one case of assault, one case of ‘oral rape’ and two cases of sexual assault have been registered against 50-year-old Brand. However, the actor has completely denied these allegations.
According to the police, the alleged crime involves four women and took place between 1999 and 2005.
According to the AP report, the incident came to light in September 2023, when British media ‘Channel 4’ and ‘Sunday Times’ published claims of four women that Brand had sexually harassed or raped them. However, the identity of the complainants has not been revealed.
The comedian, writer and ‘Get Him to the Greek’ actor has denied the allegations, saying that his relationships were always consensual. Following the rape allegations, Brand posted a video on X in which he denied the crimes and titled it ‘My Answer’. In the video, he said,
‘I have always told you guys, when I was young and single, before I had a wife and family, I was a fool.’ He further said, ‘I was a drug addict, a sex addict and a fool but I never raped. I never participated in non-consensual activity. I pray you can look me in the eye and see that.’
